Okay, first off, I haven’t been sleeping well. I’m stressed out, I’m getting a bit edgy ( a lot) probably fairing about as well as the rest of you…maybe a bit worse.\u00a0 I’m just trying to keep my grip on reality…a reality the resembles the twilight zone a little more everyday.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tI’ve been getting deja vu , which I don’t usually get or \n\t\t\t\t\t\tpay attention to. But I figure it must be gnawing at me \n\t\t\t\t\t\tfor some reason to be able to be noticeable amongst all \n\t\t\t\t\t\tthe angst that’s swimming through my head this month. \n\t\t\t\t\t\tThen something…unlikely…dawned on me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tMy Dad isn’t particularly cynical, not compared to me at \n\t\t\t\t\t\tleast, but has said things to me when I was a kid that \n\t\t\t\t\t\tstuck with me for their blunt cynical wisdom. One time I  \n\t\t\t\t\t\twas in the car with him and some “psychic” was being \n\t\t\t\t\t\tinterviewed on the radio and mentioned that he had \n\t\t\t\t\t\tpredicted a war in the middle east and low and behold \n\t\t\t\t\t\tone was going on.  And I said ” I guess he just \n\t\t\t\t\t\tgot luck, huh?<\/em>” and my Dad said something along the \n\t\t\t\t\t\tlines of “ That’s not even luck, there’s a war \n\t\t\t\t\t\tsomewhere in the middle east every year.  He might \n\t\t\t\t\t\tas well have said he predicted it was going to rain in \n\t\t\t\t\t\tthe spring.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tSo, \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\tMy natural skepticism along with that memory of \n\t\t\t\t\t\tchildhood makes me invulnerable to paying attention to \n\t\t\t\t\t\tmost cases of “predictions” or thing being any more than \n\t\t\t\t\t\tcoincidences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s low hanging fruit of getting something right ahead of time, there’s luck…there’s the law of averages.\u00a0 The Simpsons has predicted a lot of stuff, but it’s also been on the air for 30 years.\u00a0 They hit a home run here and there like saying Trump would be president, but they also take a hell of a lot of swings at the plate.\u00a0 AND…I don’t have anything to do with that show so…whatever. They want to unwittingly tap into the fabric of the universe somehow or will something into existence for the sake of a gag, more power to ’em, I sez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tBut I will admit to being a little uncomfortable right \n\t\t\t\t\t\tnow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tI’m sure the last thing you want to read is a story \n\t\t\t\t\t\tabout the world ending, but bear with me here…just get \n\t\t\t\t\t\tto about the middle of page three and tell me I’m just \n\t\t\t\t\t\tcracking up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tJUST…just stop right there.  You see what I see?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now…the virus thing, no big deal.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s been like a million movies about viruses ending mankind. which is WHY I added in a absurd set of other circumstances…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tLike a Volcano erupting… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"\/<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tand an Earthquake…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"\/<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tand swarms of Cicadas <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"\/<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tNOW…a Cicada is a kind of cricket and a Locust is a \n\t\t\t\t\t\tkind of grasshopper…and I purposely used Cicada \n\t\t\t\t\t\tinstead of Locust so it wouldn’t have some Biblical \n\t\t\t\t\t\tcontext to take away from the absurd mish mash of \n\t\t\t\t\t\tevents.  so close, but not quite…right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m really not comfortable with \n\t\t\t\t\t\tthis…that’s 4 out 5.  Four out of five random ass \n\t\t\t\t\t\tthings I strung together. AND they seem to be happeing \n\t\t\t\t\t\tin the order I described.  Anybody google Tsunami? \n\t\t\t\t\t\thas there been one? Don’t tell me. I don’t wanna know, \n\t\t\t\t\t\tto be honest.  Here’s the rest of the story. I \n\t\t\t\t\t\tdoubt anything else prophetic is in it, but I haven’t \n\t\t\t\t\t\tread it in awhile…and I don’t think I will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This story appears in Arsenic \n\t\t\t\t\t\tLullaby “The Devil’s Only Friend” and a few comicon \n\t\t\t\t\t\texclusive collections.  It’d tell you to go get one \n\t\t\t\t\t\tfrom your local comic book store, but they’re all more \n\t\t\t\t\t\tor less closed for the time being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But if you can track one down, \n\t\t\t\t\t\tyou should…maybe there’s winning lottery numbers in \n\t\t\t\t\t\tthere too, for all I know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
