2014 Convention and signing schedual

2014 CONVENTION AND SIGNING DATES…MORE TO COME….

UPDATED APRIL 5TH (SCROLL DOWN)

I know what you’re thinking…You’re thinking will I be lucky enough to have Douglas Paszkiewicz world class illustrator and writer of the darkest dark humor come and shoot his big mouth off in my town?!  Will I be lucky enough to be able to come up and be treated rudely and have a less than civil exchange with him IN PERSON?! Will I be lucky enough to have to pull him to the side and whisper “dude…be careful, that girls ONLY 17!”    Perhaps…

…here’s the dates so far.  A valuable lesson has been learned this week.  The readers of A.L. got on the interwebs and raised hell to AZ comic Con requesting my charming presence. and guess what? AZ comic-con came through.  Looks like I will be in Phoenix AZ.  The thing I always try to get you guys to understand is that YOU are the fuel in the tank that makes this machine go. I can send my impressive BIO all over God’s creation, but it doesn’t amount to as much as YOU letting your local convention operators know you want me at the show.  These people are in it to bring bodies through the door, and the best way for them to know WHO is actually going to draw in a crowd…is for YOU to tell them.

SO…after you scroll through the current list check out the *pending* dates.  These are shows I’d like to attend but the fine folks running them may need a little extra motivation (that’s you).  ALSO, If you have a local show and don’t see it on any list…FIRST let the show know you want me there (usually under “contact info” there is some person with the title Guest relations…start the emails there, THEN let me know about it.  THIS GOES FOR HORROR CONVENTIONS AS WELL…I don’t do nearly enough of those because…well…they get lost in the shuffle, and don’t have much knowledge of them, but I’d like to do more so keep your eyes open.

My BIO is here in case you need something to convince them.

NO WIZARD WORLD SHOWS.  My presence at shows helps the show, I have zero interest in saving ANY wizard world event from being the waste of time money and effort that it is for everyone involved.

***at some of these shows…especially the news ones, I can usually use help.  Volunteers get free merch and free admittance…you must be outgoing a fan of A.L. and attractive ( even if it is in a Pug/Bill Murray- I’m so oddlooking I’m attractive)…but not better looking than me.***

Indiana Comic Con March 14-16, 2014

Indianapolis Convention Center
100 S. Capitol Avenue
Indianapolis, IN 46225

Haven’t done this show before, but I’ve been on the lookout for a decent show in Indy.  This one seems pretty decent.

CAPE-CON MARCH 21-23

410 Kiwanis Drive,

Cape Girardeau, Missouri

Another first time appearance.   The guys running this one seem like they really know what’s what and focus on comics, and that usually means a good show all the way around.  If you live in this part of the country…this is as close to you as I’ve been for about ten years, seize the moment.  I believe I’m doing a discussion panel there..I’ll keep you updated.

!!!UPDATE!!!!

MNCBA Spring Con May 17-18

MN State Fairgrounds
Grandstand
1265 Snelling Avenue N
St. Paul MN 55108

OKAy, now THIS is a show I have been to…and it SUCKS!  Just kidding.  this is the gold standard by which all other shows can be measured.  It’s got a bad ass guest list.  It’s inexpensive, parking is free, and the venue is giant.  No worries about not having enough to look at or squeezing through tiny isles.  They also have a charity art auction that always has a bunch of impressive original art that you won’t see in person anywhere else. …worth seeing even if you aren’t bidding.  I believe I’m doing a discussion panel there..I’ll keep you updated.

Phoenix Comicon June 5-8th

Phoenix Convention

center 100 N 3rdst.

Phoenix Az

Another show I’ve done before and am happy to be coming back.  This one is just flat out fun, the guest list is impressive, the panels are well run, there’s all sorts of stuff to do after hours (nerd prom and that sort of thing) It is one of those shows that just has the feel of a big fun event.  There’s a LOT to do and see and well worth your time and money.  Looks like I will be doing a panel (panels) at this show…I will keep you updated.

COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL JULY 24-27

San Diego Convention Center

111 W. Harbor drive

San Deigo, CA 92101

Corner booth…largest Comic-Con in the U.S.A. …that’s right…I’m a baaaddd man.

Cincinnati Comic Expo Sept. 19-21

Duke Energy Convention Center
525 Elm St.
Cincinnati OH 45202

Benn to this show a few times, It’s good.  Good location, lot’s of room so you’re not shoulder to shoulder with people you spend your whole life avoiding, good guest list, lot’s of stuff to do besides thumb through .50 bins.  I missed it last year and it seems to have grown a bit. One thing they seemed to be able to pull off pretty well is variety and it appears that even with some growth they are still doing that pretty well.  Looks like there will be something worth checking out at every turn…good for you and good for me.

MNCBA Fall Con Oct 19 & 19,

MN State Fairgrounds
Grandstand
1265 Snelling Avenue N
St. Paul MN 55108

I already talked about these guys…this is their one day show.  Wanna know how good their conventions are?  I’m driving five hours for a six hour convention…because it’s that good.

Detroit Fanfare Oct.25-27

Adoba Hotel Dearborn
600 Town Center Dr.
Dearborn,  MI  48126

If you’re in driving distance of this show.  GO.  This is one run by people who give a damn about comic books and work their ass off to put on a good show.  It’s got all the usual requirements …good guests, good venue…free parking…inexpensive tickets…laid back atmosphere.  The show is in a hotel which can either be really cool or suck balls…this one falls into the really cool category.

so…Right now the map looks like this.

A nice opening salvo, but not a nation wide outbreak, so read on…

!!!OTHER PENDING DATES/LOCATIONS!!!

Here’s places I’ve gone to before but haven’t locked in yet.  If you want to see me there…The link to who you should email and tell them YOU’LL come if DOUGLAS PASZKIEWICZ (that’s me) is next to it.  SOME OF THESE SHOWS OVERLAP, which means it’s up to YOU to decide for me which show I go to.
